Federal Funding

Fund Axiom With the Dollars You Already Have

Districts across the country pay for Axiom’s LEAP Assessment, executive functioning curriculum and professional development through existing federal programs. Here’s how each product fits and who in your district typically manages each fund.

New budget lines are hard to find. The good news is that Axiom supports goals your district’s federal programs already fund: early intervention for struggling students, services for students with IEPs and 504 plans, schoolwide support in high-need schools, and educator training. Use the table below to see where each product fits, then share this page with your special education or federal programs office.

Which Funds Fit Which Products

Each Axiom product supports goals that one or more federal programs are designed to fund. Final decisions on allowable use rest with your district and state.

A Closer Look at Each Funding Source

IDEA Part B · Coordinated Early Intervening Services

IDEA CEIS: Support Students Before a Referral

The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) lets districts use up to 15% of their Part B funds for Coordinated Early Intervening Services (CEIS). These services are for students in kindergarten through grade 12, with an emphasis on K-3, who are not identified for special education but need extra academic or behavioral support to succeed in general education. Allowable activities include professional development and educational and behavioral evaluations, services and supports.

How Axiom Fits

LEAP gives educators a fast picture of why a student is struggling and links targeted, no-prep lessons. Neuro Boost and Brain Bridges provide the follow-up intervention, and Axiom PD trains the staff delivering it.

Good to Know

  • Districts using CEIS report how many students received these services and how many were later identified for special education. Axiom’s usage data can help document the services provided.
  • Districts identified by their state as having significant disproportionality must reserve exactly 15% of Part B funds for Comprehensive CEIS. Those funds must address the factors behind the disproportionality.
  • Using CEIS can affect your district’s maintenance of effort calculations, so coordinate with your business office.

IDEA Part B · Services for Students With Disabilities

IDEA Part B: Support Students With IEPs

IDEA Part B funds help districts pay the additional costs of special education and related services for students with disabilities.

How Axiom Fits

Neuro Boost is built for students with IEPs and 504 plans, with lessons that align to IEP goals. LEAP helps special educators identify specific skill gaps and plan instruction, saving hours of planning per student.

Good to Know

LEAP is not a diagnostic tool. It does not replace or delay a district’s obligation to evaluate students suspected of having a disability under IDEA. It complements that process by getting targeted support to students right away.

Title I, Part A

Title I: Support Students in High-Need Schools

Title I, Part A provides funds to districts and schools with high percentages of students from low-income families.

How Axiom Fits

  • Schoolwide program schools can generally use Title I funds to improve the whole school’s program. Brain Bridges delivers Tier 1 executive functioning instruction to every student in about 15 minutes per week.
  • Targeted assistance schools use funds for students identified as at risk. LEAP identifies those students’ specific needs, and Neuro Boost provides targeted intervention.

Good to Know

Title I funds must supplement, not supplant, state and local funding.

Title IV, Part A · Student Support and Academic Enrichment

Title IV-A: Flexible Funds for Student Support

Title IV-A is one of the most flexible federal K-12 programs. It funds activities in three areas: well-rounded education, safe and healthy students, and effective use of technology.

How Axiom Fits

Axiom’s curriculum builds self-regulation, planning and task completion. In a Gates Foundation–funded study, schools using Axiom saw a 30% reduction in behavioral referrals within one semester. This work can support a district’s safe and healthy students and well-rounded education goals.

Good to Know

Districts receiving larger Title IV-A allocations must complete a needs assessment and spread funds across the three areas. Check your district’s plan.

Title II, Part A · Supporting Effective Instruction

Title II-A: Invest in Your Educators

Title II-A funds professional development and other efforts to strengthen teaching and school leadership.

How Axiom Fits

Axiom’s professional development runs from one-hour sessions to multi-day trainings, in person, virtual or on demand. Participating educators rate it 9/10. Sessions give teachers practical executive functioning strategies they can use the next day.
