We revisit these plans a MINIMUM of every 8 weeks to make sure your child's support is always targeting their specific needs in real time.
Supported by our education team, our dedicated faculty members will work with your child to develop the processes and frameworks needed to achieve their objectives. Your faculty members are never alone in helping your child succeed - all of our faculty members meet on a weekly basis to discuss EVERY student’s learning plan and check in with our global education support team at least twice every month to ensure they are using the most effective tools we have available.
You should always know WHAT we are doing with your child and WHY we are doing it. We have the most robust reporting processes in the industry to ensure you are properly informed. We regularly call all of our parents and provide extensive progress reports every semester which provide a great deal of detail and recommendations for each of our students. We are also always happy to meet with you to explain the progress we are seeing and areas of continued focus moving forward.
Hi, my name is Megan Shepley! I grew up in Huntington Beach, CA, before heading off to the Midwest to attend Washington University in St. Louis. I graduated with a degree in Psychology and Environmental Studies, and am so excited to be back in California again with Axiom Learning! In St. Louis, I worked at a preschool for 3 years, tutored elementary school students, and worked with children to build their emotional intelligence at a research lab. Through these different experiences, I have witnessed what a difference it can make to take each student’s interests, strengths, and background into account when supporting their academic and emotional development. I love finding ways for others to succeed, and supporting them emotionally along the way. Outside of work I am usually indulging my wanderlust by hiking, exploring new areas, and traveling. Music is also a huge part of my life, as I love to sing and tap dance. I can’t wait to meet you and your family!
Hello! My name is Jason Barillas and I am originally from SoCal, the San Fernando Valley to be exact. For college I moved to the Bay Area to and earned my degree at U.C. Berkeley where I majored in English and minored in Education. The importance of education was instilled in me by my parents as a means to a better life. They always encouraged me to persevere and to strive to do my best in school which is something I work to inspire in my students. As a child, being a teacher appealed to me because of the three-month summer vacation; however, during high school, the indifference shown by some of my teachers demonstrated the positive impact I could have as an educator who put my students' needs first. In particular, Axiom’s emphasis to "meet students where they are" is a foundational educational principle that all students should enjoy. During my undergrad at Cal, I oversaw a mentoring program with local Berkeley youth, working on both their math and literacy skills. In the center at Axiom, I support students with their test preparations, executive functioning, writing, reading, and cognitive skills. During my free time I enjoy reading a good book and going on hikes with friends!
Hi! My name is Hannah Broido and I’m a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley. I majored in Peace & Conflict Studies, with a minor in Education. During my time at Berkeley, I also worked as a research assistant in a cognitive development laboratory and am excited to continue building on this knowledge at Axiom. My interest in education stems primarily from my international background and experiences. I was born in France, but raised and schooled in Japan and England, before moving here for college! I have taught in 4 countries on 3 continents, including India and Japan! Before coming to Axiom, I worked for 4 years as a literacy tutor for Reading Partners, providing 1-on-1 tutoring for students in 1st through 5th grades. Seeing first-hand the impact that 1-on-1 instruction had for these students motivated me to come work at Axiom Learning where I am similarly able to provide individualized support for each of my students. In my downtime, I love to explore new places, play lacrosse, run, knit, and do all craft-related activities in general! I can’t wait to meet you and your children and to help them achieve their potential!
Hey there! My name is Anthony Co and I'm a graduate of UC Davis, where I earned a B.S. in Biotechnology. I've been drawn to the sciences since high school, where my particularly zealous biology teacher showed me the immense satisfaction that comes from answering a complex question by going into the field, and getting my hands (and feet) wet. I possess a naturally social disposition which drew me, first, into helping my friends and bench-mates with understanding concepts and procedures, then into working as a lab assistant for my professors, and helping other students. I learned the importance of clear and effective writing, as well as that of collaboration and kinship, when dealing with the intricate web of communication and peer-review involved in the increasingly global scientific community. At Axiom, my focus is in helping students to understand their environment and uncover their goals by thinking and communicating effectively. I've worked with students of all ages, from helping young children learn their ABC's, and persist through frustration, to helping high school students disassemble the seemingly insurmountable and arbitrary ACT, into concrete and predictable rules. I look forward to working with you and sharing my love of learning with your child!
